Robert Burns born January 25, 1759 in Alloway (now Ayr), Ayrshire, and died July 21, 1796 in Dumfries (Dumfries and Galloway). He is also called Rabbie, or Robbie, Burns and nicknamed "Scotland's favorite son" ("Scotland's favorite son"), "the Bard of Ayrshire" ("the bard of Ayrshire") or, quite simply, "The Bard") is a Scottish poet, symbol of Scotland.
