Camille Vallaux, born in Vendôme on 2nd October 1870 and deceased in Relecq Kerhuon on 10th September 1945, was a geographer and oceanographer. Although unknown, he was involved in research projects, in and around Brittany, on the sea, the oceans as well as geopolitical and social concerns.
He devoted his thesis in 1908 to a social geography of the sea in Basse-Bretagne. His fundamental works, notably his general geography of the seas, were published in 1933 but their true value were only recognised after his death.
