
The Abbé Francois-Marie Madec was born on 27th February 1879 in Plouneour-Menez, and died on 19th December 1936 in Brest. As an eclesiastic, he was a pioneer in social action, and also an ardent defender of Breton culture.
He created the weekly newspaper 'L'Armoricain' in which he explained his regionalist theories, also under another title 'La Patrie Bretonne'. In 1927, he was general secretary of the 'Bleun Brug' movement, but left in 1929 to create the Catholic Regionalist movement of Adsao.
