Le Braz Anatole

Anatole Le Braz, born Anatole Jean Francois Marie Lebras on 2nd April 1859 in Duault (Côtes-d'Armor) and deceased on 20th March 1926 in Menton, was a Professor of Litterature, a writer and French folklorist of the Breton language, but only published in French, although he was fluent in Breton and wrote poems in that language, which have remained mostly unpublished. The thesis for his doctorate in litterature is devoted to the theatre in medieval and renaissance Breton.  He played an important part in the Breton regionalist movement at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the next. He was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1897. He gave conferences and took part in numerous tours for the launching of the Alliance Francaise in the United States.
