Pierre de Chalons, born on 31st May 1641 in Saint Dizier near Lyon, died in 1718, remains a lexicographer of Breton as spoken in the Vannes region. He was the son of a trader but later adopted the particule 'de' and is known as Pierre de Chalons.
A priest who came to the Breton speaking part of the Vannes diocese in Sarzeau, he composed a Breton-French and French-Breton dictionary. The first part was published in 1723 after his death.
