Brizeux Auguste Julien Pélage

Julien Pélage Auguste Brizeux, born on 12th September 1803 and deceased in Montpellier on 3rd May 1958, is a Breton Romantic poet.

Brizeux speaks and writes Breton, and uses the Le Gonidec standardised Breton for his breton poetry. His Breton poems 'Telenn Arvor' (1844), and his collection of proverbs 'Funez Breiz' (1845), were re published by Roparz Hemon in the journal 'Gwalarn'.

Auguste Brizeux gave his name to educational centres in Brittany, and his statue can be seen in the park Chevassu in Lorient.
