G. Lenotre, official name Louis Léon Théodore Gosselin, born on 7th October 1855, died on 7th February 1935 in Paris, was a historian and author of drama.
A specialist in the French Revolution, using primary sources, he published a number of important works on the subject, in a narrative and anecdotal style suitable for short stories, which influenced historians such as André Castelot and Alain Decaux: he was thus already considered in his lifetime to be the ' pope of short stories'.
