Whitley Stokes (born on 28th February 1930 and died on 13th April 1909), was an Irish linguist specialising in Celtic languages and particularly in old and middle Irish. He studied and did research on texts in the Gaelic, Breton and Cornish languages. A large number of his works were published in 'La Revue Celtique' and other magazines in German, Austrian or British ones on Celtic philology.
