Youenn Olier (Yves Ollivier) was a writer and Breton nationalist, a Catholic, born on 17th February 1924 in Audierne and died on 15th December 2004 in Vannes.
Youenn Olier was a well known figure in the history of the 'Breton movement. An exclusively Breton speaking philosopher, who brought the Breton language to the fore, with a prodigious energy, to express all aspects of his beliefs. Even his critics recognized that he was the only clear thinking Breton language writer.
In 1945 with Yann Ar Gall, they published a nationalist periodical with Catholic leanings in French, 'An Avel'.
