Rainer Maria Rilke, born Rene Karl Wilhelm Johann Josef Maria Rilke, was an Austrian writer, born on 4th December 1875 in Prague, died on 30th December 1926 in Montreux, Switzerland. He is mainly known as a poet, although he also wrote a novel, 'Les Cahiers de Malte Laurids Brigge', as well as news items and plays.
